On December 6, Elza van den Heever joins the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra for Anton Bruckner’s Te Deum at Vienna’s Musikverein. She performed the work with the Rotterdam Philharmonic earlier this year, with Place de l’opéra saying, “The finest moments were offered by the fourth movement of the five-part composition: ‘Salvum fac populum tuur/Save, Lord, your people.’ A heartfelt plea for the soloist quartet and the choir, with Daniel Behle and Elza van den Hever as expressive carriers of the vocal lines.”
The monumental choral-orchestral work is part of a multi-year Bruckner cycle, spearheaded by Rotterdam’s Chief Conductor, Lahav Shani. Shani will lead this concert from the podium, which also features Bruckner’s Fourth Symphony. Van den Heever will be joined onstage by mezzo-soprano Gerhild Romberger, tenor Daniel Behle, and bass-baritone Kostas Smoriginas.
Van den Heever is a regular collaborator with the orchestra, with whom she made her highly anticipated role debut as Sieglinde in Wagner’s Die Walküre last year.
